Every stay.cx travel guide starts with real research: climate records, ferry timetables, visitor statistics, and our own live booking data. We use smart tools for the legwork, and an editor checks every fact, every price and every claim before a guide goes live. Prices come straight from our live inventory, not from estimates. If we couldn’t verify something, it isn’t on the page.
How we source facts
We work from primary sources wherever one exists. That means national statistics offices, transport operators and ferry companies, official tourist boards, national park and heritage authorities, and municipal records, rather than other people’s travel writing.
Every factual claim in a guide is mapped to the source it came from before the guide is published. Each guide carries a short sources list at the foot of the page, so you can see where a figure came from and check it yourself. Where a source has a publication or retrieval date, we record it, because a ferry timetable and a population figure age at very different rates.
Where no primary source exists, we say so rather than filling the gap with a plausible number.
How prices work
Every price on a stay.cx guide comes from our own live inventory and is resolved at the moment the page loads. Nothing is hard-coded into the text.
That means we do not publish estimates, we do not publish averages scraped from other sites, and we do not quote competitors’ figures as if they were ours. If a price is on the page, it is a real price you could book.
How we keep guides current
Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed by an editor.
That date reflects editorial review only. Prices and availability refresh continuously in the background, and those refreshes do not move the review date, because a date that changed several times a day would tell you nothing about whether the writing had been checked.
Guides are re-verified on a 12 to 24 month cycle, and sooner when something material changes: a ferry route closes, an entry requirement changes, a site shuts for restoration.
How we make money
stay.cx earns a commission on bookings made through the site.
Guides carry no paid placements. Nobody can pay to appear in, or stay out of, a stay.cx guide. No property, region or operator has ever paid for editorial coverage, and none ever will.
